Amber’s Questions
1. What is your favorite book relationship?

UGH!

Rhysand and Feyre, Cardan and Jude, Rowen and Aelin and Rowan.

Look. I like a magical relationship where there are threats on both characters lives constantly, and where some cataclysmic s**t goes down.

I like turmoil okay? I can’t help it.

2. Who is your favorite minor character in a book series?

Seamus Finnigan!!

3. Would you rather read only book series or a stand-alone?

If I had to choose between the two, I would say a series. I read a lot of Fantasy books, and I think they are done the best when the author has more than enough pages and books to unravel characters and stories. There’s nothing worse than a rushed story.

4. What book did you love while reading but discovered later it wasn’t quality writing?

5. What book do you keep telling yourself you’ll read but you probably won’t?

Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo. I read Six of Crows and finished it, but I wasn’t overly obsessed with it or DYING to read book two. I didn’t feel a strong connection to any of the characters, so I probably won’t ever get around to continuing.

6. What is your favorite TV series?

The Handmaid’s Tale and The OA are…AMAZING.

But you know who will always be on top?

7. What is a popular or beloved character that you do not like?

Chaol from Throne of Glass!! He annoy me to now end, and I cannot stand the poor guy. It was INCREDIBLY hard for me to get through Tower of Dawn because of it.

8. What the name of a popular series that you have no interest in reading?

Game of Thrones and The Shadow and Bone Trilogy. I guess it’s more like “books I could read, but probably won’t ever read”. I tried watching the Game of Thrones show, and just could NOT get passed the first episode. I read Six of Crows, and really wasn’t crazy impressed with it. So I think that may be hindering my want to read any other of Leigh Bardugo’s books.

9. What movie adaptation did you like better than the book?

I have been sitting here for a good 10 minutes racking my brain, and I can’t think of one! I usually like the books more, partly because I am so weird about characters feeling authentic and the acting NEEDS to be flawless. If I can forget that I’m watching a movie, then it’s brilliant.

I think the Harry Potter movies could come close to being better than the books, but still…not really.

10. If you could have any book(s) coming in 2018 right now, what would it be?

So this question originally said 2018, but it’s 2019 now so I will go with this year releases!

I am REALLY looking forward to these upcoming releases!

Last Girl Lied To is a mystery/thriller about the disappearance of a girl and her friends hunt to find out what happened.

Girls on the Verge is labeled YA/Contemporary/Feminism story about a young woman and two friends traveling to across states, with the end goal being an abortion. Sounds a little strange I know, but also very appealing.

The Lost History of Dreams is a Historical Fiction/Mystery with Gothic tones and probably really sinister outcomes. It is the story of the confessions of a muse about the relationship between a poet and his wife.

The Raven’s Tale is a Fantasy Retelling of our dearly beloved Edgar Allan Poe. Enough said right?

11. What is a book(s) villain that you couldn’t help but love?

Malfoy and Voldemort, obviously.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

My Questions:
1. Where do you buy your books? Discount shops, Bookoutlet, your local bookstore?
2. Which book(s) lit you heart on fire and turned it to a pile of ash?
3. What is your favorite book genre to read?
4. Which books started out as required reading for school, but turned out to be a favorite?
5. Which character(s) do you wish would exit stage left and never return to the story?
6. What is your favorite read of 2019 so far?
7. If you could live with any character, who would it be?
8. Speaking of living spaces, what book world would you live in?
9. If you were placed in a school that trained you to be a Hero or Villain, would you be trained for Good or for Evil?
10. I wish it was still Fall, so what is your favorite spooky fall read?
11. Since this is the SUNSHINE award, what is your favorite summer read?

Bookish Book Lover Tag

untitled

Here we are guys, my first book tag post for 2017! Though I was tagged in this when it was still 2016…we don’t care do we? No, we don’t. THANK YOU to Luci over at Irontallica666Blog for the tag!

The rules:

  • use the original banner
  • answer the questions
  • use lots of book covers
  • tag your friends!

What book are you currently reading?

index

Can you say OBSESSION? This girl is psychotic, and I love her oh so much.

For those of you have read this book, can we all just take a minute to bask in that WTF moment between Rowan and Aelin where Rowan says that cringe-worthy sentence? You know the one. It involves using the word moan and turning my wondrous YA story into a borderline disturbing erotic novel, where I feel like I have interrupted a moment that I REALLY don’t want to be interrupting.

Someboodddyyy say AWK-ward?

What’s the last book you finished?

51pbjlv2mwl-_sx331_bo1204203200_

Obviously.

Favorite book you read this year?

41jriof4jll-_sx331_bo1204203200_emotions

It has to be Hatred Day and Emotions. These were both SUPER original and interesting reads, and I was hooked on them.

What genre have you read most this year?

Fantasy books for sure! I have become a sucker for anything involving royal courts and sword play!

What genre have you read least this year?

I would have to say romance or horror.

What genres do you want to read more of?

2015 and 2016 have been years where I have REALLY branched out of my normal comfort zone in regards to genre of books. I am pushing myself to become open to anything at this point.

Except erotica. Just no.

How many books have you read this year and what is your goal?

I don’t even want to know the low amount of books that I read in 2016, twas a hard year indeed. I want to read 100 books in 2017, or more. The more the merrier! My goal is to stay focused and become a reading machine. Goodbye social life, I don’t need you anyways!

What is the last book you bought?

index 9781250108838_p0_v3_s192x300

What book are you saving up for to buy?

61xgdlecz5l-_sx422_bo1204203200_

*Sigh*…Childhood. (Insert dreamy and twinkling eyes)

How many books did you check out last library visit?

Last Library visit? I couldn’t even tell you the last time i was in an actual library.

What’s a book you can’t wait to read?

51gosvbmwrl

NUMBER 5! Let’s just keep them coming Sarah J. Maas, no need to ever stop the series.

Seriously. Write forever.

What’s a series you’d recommend to everyone?

throne511bducbkcl-_ac_us200_51nhswqbr-l-_sx351_bo1204203200_51pxqcrcx0l-_sx412_bo1204203200_180051vnqsdtzol516p80iizjl-_sy346_

I read A Series of Unfortunate Events years and YEARS ago, and to my dismay….*sigh*…I can barely even say it…I LOST THEM. Ugh…woe is me.

Who’s an author you’re hoping writes more?

51uxu0chm1l-_ac_us200_

This book….always this book. If Jay Asher could just write more stories like this, he would be probably my favorite writer. I know that another story of his called What Light was just released in October, but I have a feeling this isn’t going to be as captivating as Thirteen Reasons Why.

A few books your heart adores?

51uxu0chm1l-_ac_us200_ 432541jriof4jll-_sx331_bo1204203200_TheStolenChildebookcover2614157033192029898044

So as not to be a Repetitive Rebecca, I left out my books that are a series since I have already placed them above in a previous question.

These are some of my favorite books, so you might as well trust my judgment and put them in your TBR list if you haven’t already read them.

DEFINITELY get Whispers of Bedlam Asylum because guess what?! Yours truly  and my wonderful girl Annelise are in it. Oh yeah, I s**t you not ladies and gents. The wonderful Mark C. King gave us the esteemed pleasure of being written into this majestic little tale.  Just to make you want to get this even more, both our characters are stuck in an insane asylum together against their will…and I swear, we’re sane.

(Just look for the names Jenaca and Annelise 😉 )

What series’ coming conclusion makes you sad?

throne

(Uncontrollable tears) I don’t want it to ever end!!

What books are on your wish list?

6261522975619510429025181534362727434322749511285548252859950030335388320607972796910028691932

There is like…over 300 books in my TBR list right now, so the above will have to suffice for now.

The Questions:

1. Why did you start a blog in the first place?

My mom was actually the person that gave me the idea to start a book reviewing blog a little over a year ago. I had no idea that there was THIS much of a book following on the internet and social media, it honestly blew me away. I looked into blogging about books that I read in my spare time, started a blog, and like THAT I had various authors contacting me asking to read/review their work. So here we are.

2. What is your favorite book?

I truly hate getting asked this question. It is literally impossible for me to choose just one book because I have enjoyed SO many. I usually just say Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher because I had read this when I was in my preteen years and it left a dark hole in my heart. It is one of the few books that has left a serious imprint on my mind, and for that I will always love it.

3. What do you dislike the most?

Unsarcastic sarcasm.

4. What is your favorite food item at the mall?

? What? The mall, Really? Is this a thing..?

5. What is your favorite pastime?

Ignoring the world and reading of course.

I also like going out with my guy friends and dancing really weirdly around them until they get completely weirded out and embarrassed by me and just leave. I like that.

Would You Rather Book Tag

book-tag1

Thank you to Amber over at Only True Magic for tagging me in the Would You Rather Book Tag a few months ago. I feel like I need to find way more Book Tag posts to participate in, tag me bloggers!!!! 🙂 Alright, here we go:

1. Rather read only a series or stand-alone books?

OoOoOohhh that’s a tough call! For me it all depends on the genre and how great the story line is. In other words, I want my Fantasy/Paranormal books in a series and my YA books stand-alone.

2. Rather read a book whose main character is male or female?

I love a strong female lead character, and as a female, I would obviously relate more to a main character that is also female. On the other hand, in real life I am much more accustomed to being around guys than I am women. Why? It’s just….you know…a hell of a lot easier! I think because there are so many books I have read that have a female lead, I am leaning more towards preferring a story that has a male lead.

3. Rather shop only at Barnes & Noble (or other actual bookstore) or Amazon?

Bookoutlet.com ALL THE WAY BABY! Granted I can only shop at this store online, which hurts the nerd in me that wants to wander around a book store for 3 hours, but you can’t beat these prices. They have SO many great books that range from $1-$5. I know, it’s insanely awesome and we just DON’T deserve them. *Sigh*…swoon worthy.

Once again Bookoutlet.com…compensation for free publicity is greatly appreciated 🙂

4. Rather all books become movies or tv shows?

Movies. Harry Potter, Hunger Games, The Giver, Me Earl and the Dying Girl, The Fault in Our Stars…wonderful.

Whoever keeps deciding to turn these amazing books into television shows, you need to stop it. Whoever you are, you’re ruining it. I might be the only one who thinks this way, but I seriously hate TV because all of the acting sucks and they stray away from events WAY too much. Like The Mortal Instruments for example, what the hell is even going on there? You guys should have stopped after that failed attempt at a movie. Really.

5. Rather read 5 pages per day or read 5 books per week?

Come on, 5 books per week. What am I going to do with 5 pages a day you crazy pants?!?

6. Rather be a professional book reviewer or an author?

I’m going to go with professional book reviewer. I love receiving free books and helping to promote someone’s work and a world that they have created, I think it’s amazing and something that should be shared. I have always loved writing, but I am never able to get past a single pivotal moment and fill the rest of the story with useless conversation. I would like to try my hand at writing a book one day, but I am content with book reviewing.

7. Rather only read the same 20 books over and over or get to read a new book every 6 months?

If I am only allowed to read 1 book every 6 months, then you are seriously trippin’ on some fantastical ridiculousness. I would die.

8. Rather be a librarian or own a book store?

Oh man, book store all the way!! Get a nice little coffee shop in there stocked with cheese and crackers and croissants. I would seriously drink cappuccinos all day, running around like a crazy person hyped up on caffeine and new book boyfriends. Oh yeah, sign me up. (The wine will be there for after-hours shelf stocking…obviously).

9. Rather only read your favorite genre or your favorite author?

Genre. There is way more for me to get through and enjoy by sticking with a genre rather than author. I can barely handle the wait of a book as it is, I wouldn’t survive it.

10. Rather only read physical books or eBooks?

WHAT is with all of these difficult questions!? Ebooks are cheaper, easier to get, and a lot of authors will send digital copies of their books for review instead of print copies. It’s also easier to lug an ereader around than a bunch of books…

Who am I kidding, physical books.

Bookish Questions

1

The Harry Potter Series

by: J.K. Rowling

harry-potter-series-for-kindle

I of course have to pick the Harry Potter series for a book that has fantastic dialogue and character interactions. I grew up with these characters, and I have and will always cherish and love them dearly. They are wonderfully developed and created, and even the “evil” characters have a special place in my heart! (Slytherin House \m/)

2

Frost

by: E. Latimer

index

I weirdly, but ever so obsessively, will always go for a YA/Fantasy book that is set in a winter world or where everything is frozen. Why? No idea. Maybe it’s the descriptive setting that the author gives me or the winter-like creatures that start to come out. OR maybe it’s the ever impending doom that at any minute my beloved characters could be trapped under a thick sheet of ice, never to be heard from or seen again. Maybe this has a connection to me liking Titanic? Rose just gave Jack the bird and let the m*****f***** drown. This could all be related.

3

Thirteen Reasons Why

by: Jay Asher

thirteenreasonswhy

This has been a serious favorite of mine since I was in high school, and I have re-read it about 15 times since then. As readers, I think we can all agree that our goal is to connect with the author through their work. There are very few books that I have come across where I am captivated throughout the story while also dealing with a s***storm of emotions rushing through me. i love nothing better for an author to make me hurt or piss me off, and my oh my does Jay Asher do that every time I pick this book up.

4

One Hundred Years of Solitude

by: Gabriel Garcia Marquez

100

So this is by far one of the weirdest books I have ever read. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a great book…but REALLY not my cup of tea. The book goes through 100 years of following the same family and showcases the endless mistakes they continue to make. Trust me, there are some fantastic themes throughout this story and the writing is INCREDIBLE. I just really couldn’t get past the endless amounts of incest…yeah, you heard me. I’ll just appreciate this one from afar.

5

The Hunger Games

by: Suzanne Collins

hun

I cannot, for the life of me, remember who got me into reading this series but I was SO glad that they did. I ran through this series so quickly, I was ultimately depressed when it was over.

6

The Harry Potter Series

by: J.K. Rowling

harry-potter-series-for-kindle

I mean, I don’t think there is anything that needs to be said here.

7

The 1-800-Where-R-You Series

by: Meg Cabot

1800.jpg

This series is seriously AMAZING! This is an example of another set of books that i have re-read countless times. The plot is amazing: you have mysteries that need to be solved, frightening events and murders, a dreamy book boyfriend, and a completely badass female lead. What more could you ask for?

8

Wicked Lovely

by: Melissa Marr

e1c358ba6531b13b8b91e4a4b80b3231

This entire series has some amazingly beautiful covers!

9.jpg

Speak

by: Laurie Halse Anderson

41qap6ztvol

This book was a really heart wrenching and emotional read, but I loved it. I read it years and years ago and only read it the one time, but it was a very memorable story. I think it was so enjoyable because everything about it, from the characters and scenarios, was all very relateable. I think it is such a great story to read as a young adult, it really gives you perspective.

10

Rin Chupeco

rin

All I am going to say is this: Rin Chupeco, because she is a psycho and I love her dearly.

11

Fangirl

by: Rainbow Rowell

fan

I still have not read this book, but I feel like every book blogger, bookstagrammer, and book obsessed reader has. Maybe I haven’t read it yet because i don’t consider myself a “fangirl” and i have never really gotten THAT much into anything fictional as much as some of these girls have. Don’t get me wrong though, do your thing ladies…no judgment here. It’s just not for me. Maybe one day though…I will read this and enter your world 😉
